I’m a nerd at heart and I don’t think that could be more evident than in the way I view therapy. To me, therapy is like an adventurer tackling the most challenging yet rewarding quests in a video game. The trials they will encounter cannot be overcome singlehandedly or with brute force alone. You’ll need to gather your party, those who will be integral in supporting you, and determine which skills you want to level up to face the battles ahead. There is no predetermined map, but as you progress, the fog will clear and the paths will reveal themselves with every step you take. I find my role on such a journey to be that of a fairy guide (if you’ve ever played Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, think of Navi). I don’t hold all the power or answers, but I will walk beside you to explore the darkness, encourage you to keep moving forward, and remain curious about the unknown.
I’ve been part of the Oakwood team since March 2023 and I have deeply enjoyed the connections I have built here. Since joining Oakwood, I have completed trainings on dialectical behavior therapy and treating co-occurring disorders. My work is grounded in a person-centered and trauma-informed approach which puts my clients in charge of their treatment as the experts in their own lives. I eagerly seek out new opportunities to continue to grow as a therapist so I may best serve my clients. I work primarily with adolescents and adults on mental health issues related to depression, anxiety, trauma, self-harm/suicidality, ADHD, life transitions, LGBTQ+ concerns, sensory struggles, and grief and loss. In my free time, I enjoy playing video games (surprise), watching anime, writing fiction and going on adventures with my camera.”
